Academic Collaboration Project

Welcome to Ishtar Light Project

The Ishtar Light project is a British Council–funded initiative that fosters academic collaboration between Nottingham Trent University (UK), the University of Kufa (Iraq), and Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK). Its primary goal is to strengthen the research environment in Iraq by promoting sustainability, innovation, and academic excellence through structured UK–Iraq partnerships. Through initiatives such as Ishtar Light, the project supports the development of research skills, encourages cross-cultural knowledge exchange, and contributes to broader objectives related to sustainable development and long-term academic capacity building within the region.

International collaboration between universities plays a vital role in advancing research quality, widening access to expertise, and addressing complex global challenges that transcend national boundaries.

The support provided by the British Council is fundamental to the success of initiatives such as Ishtar Light. By facilitating funding, institutional partnerships, and knowledge exchange, the British Council enables sustainable international collaboration, builds research capacity, and strengthens long-term relationships between institutions. This support not only enhances academic outcomes but also contributes to trust-building, cultural understanding, and the development of resilient global research networks.
